Agatha Christie's Poirot costumes [8/?] ↳ Miss Felicity Lemon's green outfit in 3x02 "How Does Your Garden Grow"
"There have been a lot of comments about the wonderful frocks I got to wear. We had a lot of very good costume supervisors and costume designers. Barbara Kronig was one of the original ones. She worked with the late Sheila Buckland who had an incredible store of vintage frocks, most of which I wore in the series. Sheila was very pleased with me because when the frocks were returned she always used to say she couldn't tell it had been worn. Because I really take care of costume, I'm very particular about that. Sheila was meticulous to a degree, she really was, and I've got the most wonderful shoes to wear as well. The production values were extremely high [on the series]." -- Pauline Moran on the costumes she wore as Miss Lemon, Fantom interview, May 2020

desperately need people to understand that alicent is a victim but she’s also an abuser and a perpetrator
that she actively makes choices to harm other women because of jealousy and envy and the greed deep in her bones because submitting to suffering didn’t get her what those women fight to grasp for themselves.
she is absolutely a victim, in show.
that doesn’t change that she abused rhaenyra and her children, her own son, most likely helaena given how she flinches every time her mother touches her, and is actively weaponizing the patriarchy of westeros against other women- rhaenyra primarily, but also mysaria and dyana.
she isn’t the moral, righteous force of good that even she thinks she is, she’s a wounded woman directing all of the rot, pain, and fury inside her at the wrong people and forces.
#anti team green stans#anti team green#anti alicent hightower stans#i don’t wanna say it’s anti alicent bc honestly it’s more ‘accept her for who she is bc she’s so much more complex and interesting when you#but i made this bc someone genuinely tried to say that the reason people hate her is that they don’t see her as a victim#most rational people know show!alicent is a victim#it’s the point that’s she’s an abuser as well#that makes them dislike her#that she’s a hypocrite and a traitor#i don’t even like young alicent bc i don’t at all think she was a good friend to rhaenyra#‘it’s not your place to question the plots of lords and men’ to the named heir#dismisses rhaenyra’s hopes and idealism entirely out of hand#is baffled that rhaenyra is more worried for her fathers happiness and mother’s wellbeing than her position#she knew as early as ep 3 that otto was conspiring against rhaenyra and never told anyone#condemns ‘targaryen customs’ only to wed her daughter to her son even younger than she was when otto dangled her before viserys#acts entitled to rhaenyras secrets whilst condemning and judgemental even though she did not give rhaenyra that same courtesy#made no attempt at apology for the insensitive comment of aegon’s birth#though rhaenyra DID try to apologize for the ‘imprisoned in a castle’ line and tried to comfort her#uses her power as queen to push past the space rhaenyra is trying to create because she feels heartbroken and betrayed#rhaenyra took part in alicent’s culture with prayer at alicent’s urging because she cared about alicent and alicent was trying to help her#alicent is never once shown to return that favor instead condemning it for ‘queerness’ and growing to later#erase and remove all targaryen and valyrian heraldry from the red keep to replace with her own#like alicent is a victim and i DO have empathy for her. but i don’t like her and never will#especially not after the way her stans behave#she deserved better than otto’s machinations and viserys’…. viserysness#but that can also be true whilst i condemn her actions and behaviors

I wish I could create Instagram posts with “smell o vision”, because this fragrant herb is Cinnamon Basil (Ocimum basilicum).
The Cinnamon Basil is the same species as normal Italian Basil but the scent is more like a rich floral and spicy perfume than mere cinnamon. Among its bouquet of secondary metabolites is methyl cinnamate, the same naturally occurring chemical that gives cinnamon its distinctive flavour. The cinnamon basil originated in Mexico and is used in both sweet and savoury dishes.
I grew this unusual herb from seed here in the UK and it is flourishing in the greenhouse. The plant is reported to repel white fly although this has not been thoroughly researched yet.

My 100th post!!! To celebrate I wanted to take a moment to profess my love for nettles. They grow wildly in nature, and can be picked from early in the spring until late autumn. They're filled with vitamins and can be used in food, drinks, and as supplements!! Just make sure you boil them for at least five minutes before using them, otherwise you might get stung and if you haven't experienced it, lemme tell you: it HURTS.

#selfish?#obtuse?#disconnected?#fr i actuallt don't want to see the 'im too scawed and anxious and my precious feelings hurt too much to go to any irl action or protest or#rally or write letters or phone calls to government or boycott divest or sanction or stand up for so called beliefs and actually it's#ableism to say i should' crowd posting photos at pride parades where fucking cops are marching having fun and not protesting anything.#i don't wanna fuckinf see it. if you can't leave your house for your beliefs for justice for liberation then why do you think you can for#so called pride? pride in what? your cowerdace? ain't nothing queer about that babe.#i'm physically disabled and i'm there every week. i'm mentally disabled and exhausted and burnt out and traumatised and i'm there every week#if you can't even go to a single like green-level protected rally to show support in numbers. not even once when they're every week#then get out of here with that i can't wait to march in the pride parade bullshit and grow a spine#anyway no pride in genocide no cops at pride and no fucking cowardly queers who put their own comfort before LITERALLY STOPPING A GENOCIDE#as is every international citizen of the worlds fucking duty. ur duty to humanity called and said ur a failure :/

I’m scared to post knight Gojo thank you for being so nice to me about it bffs 💛
#I’m nervous! I’m so nervous!!#thinking about the John Green quote about potential and fear of failure#knight Gojo is really scary to me because the last project I think people really liked from me was Teen Dad Gojo#which I've made my peace with even though I used to be really embarrassed of it but if I peaked at sixteen#I could not continue to live with myself that's so embarrassing#knight gojo is my attempt at showing how much I've improved but what if I finish it and I realize I actually haven't improved at all#you don't understand how much this idea horrifies me#I don't want to be frozen in time like any living thing I want to grow!#I'm not normally this insecure about my writing because I am at heart just a blockhead who just bulldozes through life driven by impulse bu#I think Mao talked about this once but there's a chart for growth and at some point your ability to criticize your own work exceeds your#ability to create because you're good enough to recognize quality but not good enough to manufacture it#anyway! knight gojo is going out tomorrow and I'm going to stop being a baby about it and if it sucks it sucks and I keep learning#thanks for being here with me guys <3 let's have a sleepover after I drop the fic <3

⭐️Currently reading: The One-Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka ⭐️
‘Just playing or doing nothing at all, children are happy. A discriminating adult, on the other hand, decides what will make him happy, and when these conditions are met he feels satisfied.’
The synopsis calls it ‘Zen and the Art of Farming.’ This book is about his experience over 30 years of using the ‘do-nothing’ farming method. He lets his orchard and rice/barley fields grow wild without any pest controls or fertilizers. That’s the basis of it (kinda?) — but what makes this book amazing is that he goes deep into why it works for him. Explaining why he doesn’t have to use chemicals to treat weeds and pests. Into the full circle of life & how to actually grow ‘natural’ food. We always want bigger and better quality & focus on high yields and money. How disconnected we really are growing from nature in agriculture.
If you aren’t into agriculture or learning about the exact ‘whys’ of his experiences from growing rice, barley & citrus on his personal field —- skip to part 2 of the book. I honestly wouldn’t recommend skipping(it holds a lot of useful information), but after part 2 is where I really got interested.
It’s not only about farming though - it also incorporates our health, diet and how basic our knowledge is as humans. It makes you think.
Even this book being written in 1978 - it still holds up to today. We’ve had all this knowledge since then and we still continue to do industrial agriculture and live/eat the way we do. It’s eye opening, for sure.
I’m not completely finished yet - I have about 40 pages left - but that’s what I think so far ☺️ You should definitely give it a try.

i can’t believe hal didn’t grow up poor, i’m gonna be sick
#I THOUGHT HE WAS ONE OF US#he’s so often homeless and unemployed in his adult life that i forget that his family raised him on military shmoney#i should’ve realized smth was up when he grew up with 2 brothers and they all had their own rooms#unbelievable… and the fact that barry had to be more frugal in his childhood…#not that i think the allen’s were low income they did pretty decently growing up in the suburbs-ish#im just thinking abt his worn down shoes and how he was only allowed to get One comic book at the store#so i’m thinking that they had extra money to spend but not that much#the idea that hal grew up with more money than barry is literally boggling my mind#and ik it’s not the same now as adults but HAL. YOU’RE LITERALLY ALWAYS ASKING BARRY TO SPEND MONEY ON YOU.#making the working class man pay your rent when you’re literally friends with billionaires. unbelievable.#this is all lighthearted and probably 40% headcanon btw#i’m just astounded by the fact#hal jordan#green lantern#barry allen#the flash#dc#danbles

Did you know that certain types of salad plants can be grown year round here in southern England? This is our "leaf table" in the ye olde greenehouse, which supports a variety of fresh tasty salad plants during the winter. By keeping the plants in a greenhouse, they are protected from frost and intense rains. The green "curtains" in the corner are agricultural cloth blankets we place over the pots on the coldest nights. The south-facing side of the greenhouse receives maximum light and warmth on short winter days, helping the plants maintain a slow but steady growth rate. Unfortunately, due to the short day lengths and low temperatures, the plants grow much slower than in the spring and summer so we must harvest them conservatively.
Some garden plant species I recommend for winter salad cultivation are shown in the photos following the main view of the table.
Tat Soi (Brassica rapa var. rosularis) and Pak Choi (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis). The Tat Soi are the dark green plants with rounded leaves and the Pak Choi are the plants with oval pale green leaves. Both of these East Asian traditional cabbage varieties can be allowed to mature into large plants or picked regularly to keep them small.
Komatsuna (Brassica rapa var. perviridis). This petite cabbage variety comes from Japan and has a crunchy texture.
Mizuna ( Brassica rapa var. niposinica). I was surprised that the spiky Mizuna is the same species as the other leaves. Unlike the mellow leaves, it has a spicy arugula-like flavour. I recently learned that Mizuna is among the plants astronauts have grown on the International Space Station!
Our final plant is NOT a Brassica rapa! This plant is called Miner's Lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata). This dainty plant comes from mountain and coastal regions of North America and Central America, and is named because gold miners in California ate this plant to prevent scurvy, a vitamin C deficiency disease.
